When Will I Learn That the Lord Loves Me?
60
Near Disaster
There have been many times in my life where the Lord has stepped in, no doubt with heavy sighs, and saved my bacon. Seems the older I get the more often He does this too. Not just the occasional showing His love type of rescue either, oh no, when I get myself into trouble it is earth shattering, calamity Jane type of trouble and probably the Lord has to take a mental vacation after coming to my rescue!
I know that He is always there for us...me...all the time, all that never desert you nor forsake you and all but in between times I am ashamed to say I do not pay the Lord as much attention as He deserves. I mean, really, I wouldn't treat a friend the way I treat my Lord! He comes and takes cares of things (after I have thoroughly mucked everything up) and what does He get for His trouble?
"Oh thanks, Lord, 'preciate it!"
What Does Prayer Do?
I never had to be convinced that prayer works. I saw the effects of prayer from an early age. The thing I need help on is actually doing it! Silly isn't it? Something so simple, doesn't take a trip to Walmart, doesn't need a new set of clothes, don't even need to change the clothes I have on! Just go on and "pray so quiet only God hears."
But I always need the prodding and even then I am like the oxen pulling the plow. I don't want to do it, won't that mean I am totally incapable of living my own life if I ask for help? So there I stand, feet firmly planted and let the goad of the plow stick me until I kick out at the stupid thing! Call me Saul/Paul I guess. Stupid I think. The Lord is there to help me, He LIVES to help me and what do I do? Wait until my life is in shambles practically before I even bend a knee (figuratively speaking) and even then I am almost afraid I have waited too long...would He even hear me?
If I were Lord I would have left me long ago! Stupid person! How do I get my life in such a condition anyway?
Here's a thought; how bout I pray every day?
What a concept!
A Thought
Thank you Jesus, for loving me enough to always be there for me and I am sorry I don't tell You this enough.

Nice RNMSN...could you say a little prayer for me too please. Regards snakeslane
Great hub my friend, and gave all of us something to chew on, lol.
I'm still grinning over the God needing a vacation from dealing with Calamity Jane, lol. I sometimes feel like that myself, but I'm steadily improving thanks to repeated roadsigns that I needed to, lol.
Some wonderful food for thought in this one. :)
Hugs and prayers!!
Funny how we can forget all about God until we desperately need Him. As the old saying goes, there are no atheists in foxholes.
Well done, and great points, Barb.
Sorry, I have to grin at WillStarr's comment. I just heard it from someone else a few days ago, and was thinking about it earlier today, as well as one from another friend I interviewed years ago who said, "In boot camp, even an athiest will try God at least once!"
I find that I am quicker to ask for help than I am to give thanks, something I am making a conscious effort to change. I'm glad you've found the answer to your question.
"I find that I am quicker to ask for help than I am to give thanks..."
Boy, howdy! Why are we like that?
God must be shaking His big head!
I do so love the way you use humor even in the most serious of predicaments and topics! Like Femmeflashpoint I smiled at your "God needing a vacation from dealing with calamity Jane" image.
Yes, God is always there for us when we reach out to him and daily gratitude and prayer can change our lives in profound ways by helping us keep him front and center.
Am glad to hear he came to your rescue in your most recent near disaster.
I'll start including you in my daily prayers in the hopes of putting in the good word for my dear hubber friend, Barbara. I don't have any special influence with him but the more of us down here praying on your behalf, the better.(smile)
So glad we met in Hubberland.
He never leaves us thank God...and I have to say we do treat the Lord as if we take Him for granted. He loves us and that is something we really need to get a hold of. Knowing in your heart that He loves us is all we need to know..He always take care of His children..I thank God for His Grace and Mercy and that I have accepted Him as my Lord and Savior He can surely do better with my life then I ever could do..
your welcome
Congratulations, for having the inspiration and the aspiration from the Lord above, as you put Him first and are able to shout out about it. I always need inspiring people to encourage me, although I am always trying to encourage others as well in the same field. I have always enjoyed what you write, and forgive me if I don't comment enough. And congrats to you for scoring 100! I am right behind you about at the 95 mark. I admire a writer who is inspirational, just as you have done so well here in this hub. Maybe someone may decide to follow Jesus by this one blessed hub. I am glad that we will someday be neighbors in His Kingdom! :)
Thanks for this hub RNMSN. It is very inspiring. This is also A reminder to me that God loves me and He is there for me everyday. I really should pray and meditate more. I hope you continue on with your christian ministry...and sharing God's love with others is a ministry.
OK RNMSN, I think that is a great idea.
Boy I like the way you were so open, and honest. What stuck out to me is when you stated if you were the Lord you would have left long time ago. Wow it really starting me to thinking how huge God's love is toward us, because I couldnt put up with me either, I guess that's why He is Lord and not us.
Enjoyable Hub RNNMSN, almost looking at both sides now...Loved your Humor. Some people have such Strong Beliefs. I think we should all try a little harder in our life time, so we won't need too many excuses when we meet at Heaven's Gate!
OH This was beautiful and most encouraging to know l am not the only one..........
Thank you.
Hello RNMSN and Happy New Year to you! As I read your hub very carefully I pictured the way I pray. I always kneel when I can to feel humility. This is not a requirement and I believe we can talk to God anywhere at any time and often do when I am on a walk.
I have a medium size roll up pillow on my bed which I lay on the floor to kneel on (bad knees and wooden floors don't mix well.)
So I usually roll out of bed and onto the floor and begin each day with a prayer of gratitude, followed by an out-pouring of my heart. There is not enough time in the day to give thanks for all that I have been blessed with.
I spent too many years ignoring the Lord and only remembering Him when I wanted a favor. I'm amazed that He hears and answers my prayers at all. I wouldn't if I were Him. Thank you, my friend for writing this beautiful and thought-provoking hub. And good blessings to you!

I really appreciate your honest, open and down to earth style of writing. I think it's a great way to inspire others because none of us is perfect and often forget to pray and check in with God. I think this is a real great reminder at the new year for me to remember to Pray more. Thanks RNMSN.

Very well presented because you've answered your own question. Thank you for this.
