What Do You Expect From Your Nail Salon?

Anytime you enter a nail salon, the fumes should actually NOT knock you over. If it does, the shop is not well ventilated. The license should be prominently displayed. The nail salon owner and or all of the salonists should welcome you and ask you to wash your hands.

That is not a slight on your part. That means they know, as all nurses know, that the best way to fight infection is to wash your hands!

If your salon experience starts off this way you will probably be treated exceptionally well.

Another item that needs to be the same reagardless of the nail salon is how they treat their instuments, including all of the nail files, buffers, dremel files and paintbrushes they use from one customer to another.

The worst thing that can happen when you indulge yourself in a manicure or a TOPPING, like solar or acrylic nails is a fungal infetion on your natural nailbed.

Fungus is highly contagious; that is why you need to be sure and ask about how the nail salonist takes are of their equipment. If you can see that the file they are using on you has been used before; time to regroup and reconsider how much you love your natural nails versus how much you want the TOPPING.

There are many nail salons wherever you live, but you only have one set of fingernails!

Solar and acrylic nails are almost the same thing. Acrylic nails is also a powder that gets painted onto your natural nail-bed with a paintbrush and a hardener. Solar nails have a different chemical in the powders that allow you to go three instead of two weeks between return trips to the nail salon.

But they BOTH should be applied the same way, with the same consideration for cleanliness, one time use, and good infection control.

The nail salon should have all their equipment sterilized and looking brand new from one customer to another.

The nail salon should have plenty of replaceable dremel tips, so that you are not using the same one that was used on the customer before you.

There should NOT be a strong odor of fumes in the salon itself.

The results of both solar and acrylic nails provide your natural nail the opportunity to grow longer and stay protected at the same time. You won't have to worry, as you do with nail tips or plastic nails, that one wrong move will send your fake nail flying and harm your natural nail. Indeed, the hardener that is used prevents that from happening, your nails become as hard as steel and feel absolutely protected and comfortable.
